Maren Lundgren

About Maren

A fourth generation Oregonian, Maren was born in Portland on August 31, 1974. She grew up in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho, where in 7th grade Maren read Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird and decided that one day she would be a lawyer and work for social justice.

Maren first moved to Bend with her family in 1990. She attended Bend Senior High, where her parents had met and graduated over thirty years before. She went on to take classes at Central Oregon Community College before moving to Portland in 1992 to study at Portland State University.

After graduating with a BA in Music in 1996, Maren lived in Bend, Los Angeles, and Phoenix, working her way up from an entry level barista position to Store Manager at Starbucks Coffee.

In 1999 Maren returned to Bend to pursue her dream of becoming a lawyer. In February 2000 Maren's son Max was born and she was accepted into Gonzaga University School of Law.

Over the course of the next four years Maren attended law school, continued to work at Starbucks, gave birth to sons Samuel and Leonard, and worked as a legal intern at a public interest law firm, The Center For Justice, in Spokane. Maren graduated with her JD from Gonzaga University School of Law in June 2004.

Upon graduation from Law School, Maren first took and passed the Washington Bar Exam, then returned to Bend with her family where she took and passed the Oregon Bar Exam in February 2005. Two weeks later daughter Scout was born.

Maren currently works for Crabtree & Rahmsdorff, the Public Defender’s office in Bend, practicing criminal defense, primarily within the juvenile justice system. In her free time, Maren enjoys camping and hiking with her children, high desert gardening, fly-fishing, and practicing yoga.
